WIG Indigenous Award Details

World Council of Indigenous Games (WIG) which were introduced “WIG WILTON AWARD” in the year 2025.

ABOUT WIG WITON AWARD

The WIG Wilton Award is a newly established honor introduced by the World Council of Indigenous Games (WIG) in 2025. Named in recognition of Chief Wilton Littlechild's significant contributions to Indigenous people, sports and culture, the award aims to celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service across various fields.


Award Overview

  • Annual Presentation: First week of April
  • Eligibility: Open to all individuals, regardless of race, occupation, position or gender
  • Purpose: To honor outstanding achievements and services in diverse disciplines.

WIG Wilton Award Categories

WIG WILTON AWARD is given to any individuals with exceptional and eminent service in any field. Below are the list of categories in all fields:

  • Art
  • Trade & Industry
  • Sports
  • Medicine
  • Science & Engineering
  • Literature & Education
  • Social work
  • Others (categories not covered above)

WIG Award Selection Criteria

As per the WIG Bylaws, WIG Wilton Award is invited the recommendations every year from May to 15th March from all. Recommendations can be received via online application form which is prescribed below.

Recommendations can be self-recommendations, friends’ recommendations, relative recommendations, organization recommendations and others etc. All recommendations will be validated and publish before 1st Week of April every year. Awardees softcopy certificate will be circulated via email. In case, Awardees required hardcopy of Certificate & Medal, need to pay (Terms & Conditions Applied notified via email).
